The Thy-Project

Based upon experiences with our work at street-level, projekt UDENFOR has launched the Thy-project which is an outgoing, investigative social and health related work in the village of  Frøstrup. Thy is a region in the north-western part of Jutland.

The object of the Thy-project is to carry out outgoing social health service in the fairly sparsely populated area around the village of Frøstrup. The project focalises on health services.

In other more sparsely populated areas in the country there is also a need of the kind of outgoing health promoting social work which has been developed in larger cities by means of persons offering support and contact. Exposed citizens suffering from abuse or mental diseases in small communities also need and have a right to such services. Thus the Thy-project is an attempt to deliver a support and contact service to exposed citizens.

In the special area where the Thy-project is carried into effect, an alternative kind of settlement exists; the Thy Camp which offers shelter to people with extra needs which neither the public nor the general social network can take care of.

In our work we will do everything to cope with the barriers which may exist among the established public offers and the inhabitants of the area. It will always be executed in accordance with a respect of the choices the individual or the groups have made concerning their way of life.

The project will run from May 2009 and 3 years ahead and will be executed by a coworker. After this the project will be evaluated and perhaps be transferred to Thisted Municipality.
