Yesterday, 16th of Janurary 2008, projekt UDENFOR received the Citizenship Award from HK/Kommunal*, at HK/Kommunal’s congress. We would like to thank HK/Kommunal for giving us this fine award, which we are very proud of.
The award goes to an organization or person, which has done something out of the ordinary within the struggle for legal rights of citizens.
It is the first time this award has been given away. projekt UDENFOR has become 25.000 DKKR richer, by receiving this award, and the money will be spend in the work with the homeless. Along with the award follows a large cactus, which symbolizes both toughness and critical sting.
It says at HK/Kommunal’s website: It is essential within good, public administration that all citizens can claim fair treatment. We have therefore chosen to reward those who fight for this. We will not protect certain sections in the law, systems, politicians or employees – which might be members of our own. We are ready to pounce on all conditions, which might put obstacles in the way when it comes to securing the legal rights of citizens.
Thank you for this fine award, and thanks to Ole Pass, chairman for the directors of social services, for your speech of motivation.
* Danish trade union organizing approx. 70.000 people employed by local authorities.
