Ann Dorthe Lunde, street collaborator from the projekt UDENFOR was in the street distributing breakfast to the homeless people on Thanksgiving Day in the Canadian town of Halifax.
Ann Dorthe Lunde is in Canada to participate in a conference on social work in Halifax. She represents the projekt Udenfor and will hold a presentation on charity and humanism in social work. The stay has also given her the possibility of visiting several organizations working with homeless and other exposed people.
Breakfast for the homeless people in the church.
On Monday, October 12th where Canadians celebrate their Thanksgiving Day, Ann Dorthe participated in serving breakfast for homeless people in a church. The Brunswick Street Mission organisation is behind the arrangement. And it was most welcome, tells Ann Dorthe Lunde.
People were really hungry when we started serving breakfast. I talked to a number of the homeless and they told me that most of them sleep in a shelter near the church. Even if the arrangement was for both men and women, there were only men, tells Ann Dorthe from Canada.
During her visit to Canada Ann Dorthe Lunde also visited a shelter, a counselling centre for female prisoners and a home for young girls in trouble.
