One of the newest initiatives from the project UDENFOR was presented for the first time when the European Anti Poverty network held an open meeting on the 14th of August. The EAPN is a network of voluntary European organizations which have cooperated in order to fight poverty and social ostracism since 1990. The Danish EAPN Network had at its meeting the European Poverty Year on the agenda and in that connection the project UDENFOR presented the Project Poverty Walks by Susannah L. Sønderlund.
The idea of the Poverty Walks is to make alternative city walking tours in Copenhagen in the charge of trained homeless guides. The idea of this initiative is to pass the word to the socially exposed people of the city. During the walking tours the participants will see the poverty localities and otherwise overlooked places in the capital. It is the purpose of the poverty walks to create a platform where two types of fellow citizens meet and get a strengthened insight and understanding, a mutual respect and curiosity in relation to different living conditions.
Project UDENFOR hopes to launch the alternative offer of experience during spring 2010.
