Training activities

At national level projekt UDENFOR offers training programmes, courses and seminars on outreach and outgoing social work, homelessness and social-psychiatry. Training activities are targeted at Danish case workers, municipal and organisational outreach social workers, who work with socially vulnerable groups.

Since we began work in 1997, projekt UDENFOR has gained a lot of valuable experience in developing and testing methods of outreach and outgoing street work among homeless people. Method descriptions and project evaluations, publications, debate articles etc. have all contributed to creating a comprehensive amount of written documentation. In addition, we have close links to the educational sector, for instance through trainee schemes which help strengthen the connection between the theoretical base and practical development.

We want to contribute with our expertise to continuing the development and spreading knowledge about methods and experiences from our efforts within the area of homelessness. We will therefore be offering courses and seminars within the area of outgoing and outreach work, homelessness and social-psychiatry.

The main target group for our training activities is Danish social case workers and municipal and organisational outreach workers, who work with socially vulnerable groups that particularly include mentally afflicted and homeless people. We offer various tool and method courses that include group work, case work, training and debates. Examples are:

• Law and ethics within the area of homelessness. Detailed reading of relevant legislation and group discussion on ethical problem areas and dilemmas in the practical work. 1-day course.
• Outreach work among homeless people with mental illness. Theory and method. Incl. work/discussion on own cases. 2-day course.

We also offer customised courses for Danish workplaces that need a competence boost or who would like some inspiration and guidance on how to make a co-ordinated, cross-professional effort. We intend to invite both professionals and politicians to seminars, lectures and thematic afternoons to facilitate an ongoing process of knowledge sharing and debate within the area of homeless people with mental illness and ensure a continued focus on reinforcing efforts to help socially vulnerable groups.
